Work Schedule: 238-day contract. Hours are typically 7:30-4:00 with a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks, but the hours may vary depending on the needs of the district.

POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain the operation of the district network systems and related hardware.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Maintain core routing, switching, wireless, and security systems across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, availability, and security.
• Install, configure, and support network infrastructure, evaluate new technologies and products, implement network management tools.
• Evaluate, plan, refine, and implement voice, data, and security systems.
• Understand immediate and long term organizational requirements or changes that require IT support.
• Design, install, configure, and support LAN/WAN/MAN/WLAN communications systems in a large multi-campus environment.
• Maintain the core security products, such as firewalls, VPN's, internet filters, monitoring services, WLAN controllers, etc. for multi-campus network environments.
• Initiate approved programs and projects based on approval from the Technology Director.
• Prepare projects, track work plans, and maintain good communications for assigned rollouts of local and enterprise wide infrastructure.
• Ensure the development of technical solution designs and documentation of technical specifications.
• Track, monitor, and respond to all issues discovered via IT audits, both internal and external.
• Assist in the organization, inventory, and tracking of all network-related hardware and software resources.
• Prepare program and/or project requests, priorities, and plans for assigned areas of applications.
• Practice and exhibit quality workmanship, excellent work ethic and pride-in-ownership in the execution of all operating and maintenance duties including the proper care of all district property.
• Maintain a standard of premise wiring practices along with safe drilling and ladder practices.
• Maintain meticulous recordkeeping and documentation.
• Perform disaster recovery simulation in conjunction with System Administrator Team every six months.
• Perform on-site and remote technical support related to assigned systems and their related systems.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures for backups of all related systems and equipment including switch, access point, firewall, router and filter configurations.
• Make recommendations for the purchase of new network-related equipment and services.
• Provide emergency support as required.
• Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
• Diagnose hardware and software problems related to systems and replace defective components.
• Maintain logs related to system functions as well as maintenance and repair records.
• Monitor system performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where adjustments will need to be made in the future.
• Recommend hardware or software changes to adapt to changing technology demands.
• Monitor and update student contact information generated by the mass notification systems.
• Adhere to all policies of the District.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Director.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Information Technology or related field
Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Information Technology or related field

Experience: Previous experience in network design and implementation preferred.

Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

Certifications & Licenses: Documentation of training in network design.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Most work is performed in an indoor office environment that is temperature-controlled. The sound level ranges from very quiet to moderate depending on the activities being conducted.
