Work Schedule: 236-day contract. Schedule is according to shift assignment and will include a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks daily.

 

POSITION SUMMARY


Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, cleaning restrooms, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash indoors and outdoors. Duties may include performing minor maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and performing other custodial duties as required.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Operate power equipment such as wet-vacs, scrubbers, buffers, or other equipment that is used in building maintenance.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using appropriate supplies and techniques.
• Notify supervisors concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Dust and clean furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas using appropriate tools/equipment or by spreading snow melting chemicals.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours, setting alarm systems, or checking to ensure that hazards are not created that may result in injury to others.
• Set up and arrange furniture, staging, or other equipment to prepare facilities for school events.
• Make adjustments to heating and cooling systems.
• Drive school vehicles as required to travel to or to perform cleaning work.
• Adhere to all policies of the District.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Assistant Maintenance Director.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Education: Less than high school education

Experience: No prior experience necessary

Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The work environment for this position is generally in a school setting with both inside and outside work. The noise level is moderate in most situations. Some exposure to extreme heat or cold may be encountered depending on the job assignment and the season of the year.
