Work Schedule:
180-day contract. Daily hours are determined by length of contract and include a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks.

POSITION SUMMARY


Monitor school buildings, grounds, and parking lots to help ensure a safe and secure learning environment, as well as the personal safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Help provide for the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and school district property in accordance with school district policies to provide an educational environment that is conducive to learning.
• Coordinate with school officials and school resource officers as necessary to promote and provide a safe educational environment that is conducive to learning.
• Conduct ongoing security monitoring of school buildings, grounds, and parking lots.
• Assist with the enforcement of school board policies regarding smoking, parking, loitering, trespassing, theft, vandalism, property damage, alcohol use, drug use, and other school district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Report concerns and incidents which may require corrective action to the building administration.
• Encourage appropriate student conduct with regard to school rules, policies, and regulations.
• Assist visitors to the school in receiving proper direction and assist in the prevention of unauthorized persons entering the building.
• Monitor entries and exits and prevent unauthorized entries and exits of buildings by students.
• Ensure authorized movement of students when classes are in session and escort students to and from school offices as directed.
• Monitor grounds to prevent loitering, trespassing and improper parking of vehicles.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Abide by all state and federal laws and regulations.
• Adhere to all policies of the District.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school): Preferred
Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school): Preferred


Experience: No prior experience necessary

Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers, radios, communication equipment and programs associated with the position.

Other Requirements: 1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
2. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times while around students and other staff members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


This position involves indoor and outdoor duties. The indoor sound level varies from very quiet to moderately loud depending on the activities taking place.
